ComGuard - Component Guardian

ComGuard will help you build reliable programs in a number of ways.

During your development cycle, ComGuard monitors each compilation and allows you to select from the following options:

• Project Snapshots
  • Automatically create a source code + binary "Snapshot" immediately after build. This is very handy. Click here for more information about this feature.
    
  • Create a snapshot any time using ComGuard's menu.
    
  • Now optionally copies all dependencies to snapshot folder
    
    
• Optionally add a "Verify Installation" Class module to your app.
  • You can use this class module to verify that all of your dependencies are registered correctly and are the correct version. The class template is included and stored as a plain text file so you can modify its functionality. Note that this feature is optional and requires that you add tlbinf32.dll to your distribution package. ComGuard will automatically add the required reference to your project.
    
    
• Backup the current component before VB overwrites it.
  • Have you ever compiled your project and wished you would've saved a copy of the previous component? ComGuard will do this for you each time you compile. Never be without a backup.
    
    
• Verify and correct Compatibility settings
  • Compatibility settings and management seem to be the cause of a lot of confusion. Let ComGuard take control of compatibility so you can keep your mind on more important issues... like, your code.
    
    
• Compare Components
  • Optionally compare components before and after build, showing any differences that may impact compatibility
    
    
• Warns you if the compatible component needs to be updated.
  • One of the most important services ComGuard provides is compatibility model maintenance. ComGuard will let you know if the model needs to be updated and optionally update it for you. Failure to update the compatibility model after adding a public interface is one of the most common sources of ActiveX Component failure in the field.
    
    
• The list above barely scratches the surface. There's much more.
